No operator in this market does it alone
Some of what we sell rests on assets we own outright. Some of it rests on relationships with parties who own things we do not. We think you are entitled to know which is which before you buy, so this page sets out how our partnerships actually work.
They are not interchangeable
A great deal of confusion in this market comes from providers describing all three as if they were the same thing.
What is ours outright
The cable landing station, the satellite teleport, the data centre, the metro and national backbone, and our own autonomous system. Where a service runs on these, the accountability stops with us.
- What this means for you
- Restoration is a decision we make, not one we request
WIOCC
Dalkom holds a shareholding in WIOCC, which is how we reach the WACS and EIG submarine systems and how traffic leaving our backbone reaches the wider continent.
- What this means for you
- Real capacity on a real route — but held through a holding, and we say so
Technology & space segment
Satellite capacity, hub platforms, transmission equipment and imagery all come from specialist suppliers. We integrate and operate them; we did not build them and do not claim to.
- What this means for you
- You are buying our operations, not a vendor badge
Why we publish the distinction
A diversity design built on an assumption nobody stated is not a diversity design. If two of your four routes are reached through the same holding, that is a fact worth knowing at the design stage rather than at the incident.
So we state, service by service, what is ours and what is reached through a partner. It occasionally costs us a deal against somebody prepared to be vaguer. We think that is the right trade.
If you need ground in the Horn of Africa
Satellite operators, technology vendors, system integrators and programme partners who need a presence here will generally find it faster to use ours than to build one. Tell us what you are trying to stand up.
