A payment that has to settle

Somalia runs one of the most mobile-money-dependent economies in the world. That makes the network underneath it systemically important — and it makes an outage at a bank, a switch or an agent platform something the whole market notices within minutes.

Three failures

What actually goes wrong in this sector

None of these are exotic. All three are routine consequences of buying connectivity as a commodity rather than designing it.

The window

Settlement misses its slot

Reconciliation and settlement run to a clock. A circuit that is merely “usually up” is fine for email and useless here, because the cost of the outage is not the downtime — it is the window you did not make.

The branch

A site drops and stays dropped

Branches, agents and ATMs are usually connected on a single path because that is what was quoted. When it breaks, the site is dark until somebody physically attends — and on a spur, that is the entire recovery plan.

The records

Data sits where you cannot point to it

Customer records held offshore create an obligation you cannot easily discharge, and a dependency on a jurisdiction that has no interest in your regulator’s timetable.

Residency stopped being a trade-off

Somalia’s data protection framework places real obligations on institutions holding customer records. Until there was a carrier-neutral facility in Mogadishu, meeting them meant choosing between a server in the office — which fails on resilience — and a data centre abroad, which fails on jurisdiction.

Two megawatts of 2N power, cross-connected to four submarine systems in the same building, removes the choice. Where the data sits becomes something you can document rather than something you have to explain.

What we provide

Four things a financial institution buys from us

All four run on the same infrastructure, which is the point: one operator, one set of engineers, one company answering for the path.

01

Branch & agent connectivity

Protected circuits to branches and agent networks on metro rings, with alternate routing designed in rather than promised.

02

In-country hosting

Colocation for core systems and customer records, with the residency position documented for your regulator.

03

Backup & recovery

A restore point inside Somalia that is not the same building as production — and not a continent away, where the restore becomes the outage.

04

International reach

Capacity to correspondent banks and cloud platforms across four submarine systems, on routes you can verify are separate.

Start with the window you cannot miss

Tell us which process has a deadline, which records have an obligation attached, and how many sites are involved. We will come back with the paths, the hosting and what each one actually protects you from.
